Description
Mandarin Honeysuckle is a super-hardy free flowering deciduous vine that produces abundant clusters of showy, orange trumpet-shape flowers with golden throats and bright golden-yellow reflexed petals. The flowers begin emerging in spring and continue well into fall drawing the attention of the hummingbirds. The hummingbirds love them! Clusters of bright red berries follow the flowers adding even more to the overall appeal of this spectacular vine. It is the only vine we know of that produces deep purplish, wine color new leaves, which mature to a glossy-blue-green.
This vine does not cling to walls and other surfaces, however, it grow up and on just about anything that provides its vines something to twine around. If you don’t have a trellis, pergola, arch or other structure suitable for this vine to grow on, it can also be grown as an attractive mounding shrub or very pretty groundcover.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing up to 25 feet in length or height, the Mandarin orange Honeysuckle vine is ideal for use to climb along the top of fences, on a trellis, on a pole, post or mailbox, over an arch, arbor or pergola, or any other structure that will provide something for the vines to twine around. A fine addition to hummingbird gardens, orange theme gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 3 to 6 feet apart to cover fences or other structures
Growing Preferences
Mandarin Honeysuckle is easily grown in average, moist but well-drained soils and full sun to light shade. The vine produces more flowers and is more vigorous in full sun. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. It is quite drought tolerant when established and hardy in USDA Zones 4a-9b Find Your Zone

I ordered a mandarin orange honeysuckle. I was a bit skeptical to order a plant online and have it shipped to me. The delivery was fast and I was very impressed with how well the honeysuckle was packed in a box. They took the upmost care and making sure that arrived safe and in good condition. I have planted it and it’s growing fast. I cannot wait to see the beautiful little flowers that it will produce. I would definitely recommend this company. If there’s anyone that may question buying a plant online and it shipped Wilson Bros Garden is the way to go.———————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! I’ve ordered several types of honeysuckle, and each one has arrived healthy, green, and well-packaged. Not like other companies where the pots arrive with part of the soil fallen out. They are well-established plants, and some even had flower buds on them!——————————————–Thanks for the great review! We are so glad you are pleased! Beth | WBG
I have never grown this type of plant before although when I lived up on LI we had vines like this. At this point the ones I just purchased are now in my backyard but have not grown to their full potential so it has to be a wait and see, but I am sure they will be beautiful when they bloom.—————————————–We are glad you are pleased! I received my honeysuckle plant from Wilson and could not have been happier. Full , green and very much alive and after planting within days new leaves are coming out and plant could not be healthier. Wilson Brothers always delivers quality plants! Unfortunately this particular plant was delayed in shipping for 3 days (not Wilson Brothers fault) and arrived dry and wilted. Trying to revive it! Sure hope it survives. Appears to have been a wonderful plant before it dried out. Will continue shopping at Wilson Brothers.——————————WBG Reply: Hi Mary, Thanks so much for taking the time to provide your review of the Mandarin Orange Honeysuckle. The plants were healthy, well packaged and grown to the right size for the pot’s. They are all growing and look true in color to the photograph. The condition of my first order with Wilson Brothers a few months earlier was also excellent and is the reason that I placed the second order. ———————– WBG Reply: Hi Earl – Thanks so much for taking the time to provide your review of the Mandarin Orange Honeysuckle and for your compliments!
